ABOUT US
Frank and Gladys McLean acquired the company in 1959
from William McConachie and Co. and it has continued to be
a run as a traditional, family based Funeral Directors and
Motor Car Hirer. At that time Frank was dedicated to
providing a compassionate service of the highest standard.
Because of this, the chapel in Keith was the founding chapel
and was dedicated for use in 1968 it also contains a chapel
of rest. This was the largest chapel in Scotland at the time,
for which there were only two others in existence. This chapel retains many
local features, including the floor, which originates from the Aberlour
Orphanage (now closed for a number of years)
Philip McLean joined the family business in 1981
and now has overall responsibility for business
operations in both Keith and Aberlour.
The chapel in Aberlour is a new branch, which was
dedicated in May 2001. This office was opened in
response to our continued commitment to quality
service in the areas which we are serving. Both
chapels have been designed to ensure an ambience of tranquility and peace
where families can come and pay their last respects. A large selection of
coffins, caskets, granite head stones and other memorials may be viewed in
our display room at Aberlour
F.S. McLean and Son are members of the trade bodies N.A.F.D. (National
Association of Funeral Directors) and S.A.I.F (Society of Allied and
Independent Funeral Directors) and adhere to their strict code of practices.
Philip McLean is now the principle funeral director having taken over from his
semi-retired father, Frank, and is supported by his wife, Nicola. Philip also has
a company of people including an assistant director and drivers, who as a
team, ensure that we continue to provide a high quality service in a
sympathetic environment.
